We are a father and daughter team, Nick and Lorna Illingsworth, and we are part of the Protection and Investment Limited (PIL) co-operative group.
Being part of the group means that you are retaining the services not only of ourselves, but also, if necessary, of a wider circle of financial professionals. For example, whilst we are not experts in Care Home finances, we have colleagues who can provide that service. We all know and trust each other, because we communicate regularly, and (in normal times) get together at monthly meetings and annual conferences.
PIL is one of the larger, truly independent IFA companies. We are directly authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and we have our own Compliance Manager.
Large enough to offer you the benefits this brings, we are nevertheless small enough to care deeply about each of our clients, as many of the firms that make up PIL are family-run – like us!
Nick and Lorna’s personal principles are to always act in the best interests of the client, to be completely transparent in all that we do, and to grow long term relationships. Indeed, we have many clients of more than 30 years’ standing.
Nick entered the financial services industry in 1989 joining the Prudential in Southampton. He left the Prudential in 1997 to join St James Place before moving into the Independent Financial Adviser marketplace in 2003.
Since 2003 Nick has advised clients on the full range of financial products and has built up a strong network of associated advisers in specialist areas. As a result, new and existing clients can be confident that he will be able to personally help them or refer them to a specialist adiser.
Nick specialises in Pensions and Investments and his practice, in the town of Totton on the western fringes of Southampton, expanded with the addition of his daughter Lorna who is now responsible for building up the Mortgage and Protection business.
Away from work Nick is a keen supporter of Southampton Football Club and also sponsors AFC Totton.
His other sporting interests include running and he is also keen on music and travel.
